Coastal Training Program - Meeting Coastal Challenges with Local Solutions

Photo of people at work during a training sessionThe Chesapeake Bay region has been experiencing an unprecedented surge of growth and development along its shores and throughout the watershed.  This growth has resulted in profound and lasting impacts on the Bay and its tributaries. These impacts have lead communities to question and seek ways to improve how decisions about land use, resource management, environmental regulations, and water resources are made.

Decision Makers make daily decisions that impact the Bay and its resources.  This includes a diverse group of individuals:

  • state, county & local government
  • academic institutions
  • agricultural community
  • watershed and environmental groups
  • industry and private businesses
  • developers
  • citizens and many others

The Coastal Training Program (CTP) has been designed to reach out to these decision makers and provide them with accurate scientific information about the Bay and its resources, on which to base their decisions.  CTP strives to address high priority issues at both the local and regional level and works in partnership with many organizations in the Bay region to deliver professional training programs.
