Sponsorship opportunities with the 2008 Maryland Bay Game

Cover of the 2008 Bay Game The Maryland Department of Natural Resources would like to invite you to be part of an exciting annual tradition: The 2008 Maryland Bay Game Natural Resources Activity Book.

For the past 10 years The Maryland Bay Game has creatively turned restless energy and a long car ride along U.S. Routes 50 and 404 into a fun, educational experience. The Game reaches approximately 900,000 children and their families annually, and helps educate them about one of our greatest natural treasures, the Chesapeake Bay.

With your help, we will again provide this entertaining and informative experience in 2008, but with a variation -- the 2008 game will feature natural resources across the state! From Perryville to Point Look Out, from Oakland to Ocean City, young people will now have an opportunity to about our state’s special places and how human behavior impacts our ecosystem and the health of the Chesapeake Bay.

In past years we have printed 300,000 games, two-thirds of which were distributed at the Bay Bridge toll booths during the summer months, with the remaining third distributed by sponsors, State Parks, schools and welcome centers. This year, with our new statewide focus, we are looking for statewide distribution points to supplement the Bridge distribution and plan to increase the number of games printed to 500,000 to meet increased demand.

To complement the publication and deliver its important messages to a much broader audience, the Bay Game is also available online at www.dnr.maryland.gov/baygame.

Sponsorship levels for 2008 range from $1,000 for 1/8 page ad to $50,000 for the inside front cover, bookmark and outside back cover. We’ve also added an incentive for the company who commits to distributing the Game from multiple sites around the state: A $20,000 credit toward sponsorship. This special distribution sponsorship is offered on a first-come, first–served basis. The deadline for sponsor commitments is February 24, 2008. Please see the enclosed schedule for details.

In closing, I would like to thank you in advance for your consideration of a partnership with DNR and look forward to working with you on what is certain to be a mutually beneficial relationship. With your help, we can continue to disseminate these important stewardship messages to our young citizens.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at 410 260 8002 or whall@dnr.state.md.us.
