Allegany County – On Monday, December 4, at 12:30 p.m. NRP arrested and charged Jerod Robert Beeman, 19, of Lonaconing with possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) marijuana, hunting on private property without written permission, failure of hunter to wear hunter orange and hunting within a safety zone.

NRP responded to Parkland Drive in McCoole after receiving a report of illegal hunting from a concerned citizen. Through their investigation, officers learned that Beeman allegedly shot a deer from the rear of the residence. Several other residences approximately 25 yards apart from each other surround the residence. Beeman was transported to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner and released on his own personal recognizance.

Worcester County – On Monday, December 4, at 4:23 p.m. NRP investigated a report of a man fallen from a tree stand on private property in the area of Assateague and Hunting Hound Roads. James Richard Phillips, 37, of Berlin fell 15 feet from his tree stand while attempting to secure his safety strap to the tree. Phillips was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center and later to University of Maryland Shock Trauma for treatment.
