BPW Approves $7.9 Million in Program Open Space Funds for Prince George’s County

On December 20, Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. announced that the Board of Public Works approved $7,926,350 in Program Open Space funds for development and acquisition projects in Prince George’s County, including: $244,900 for the acquisition of Patuxent River Park, a 1.15 acre of waterfront property located on the Patuxent River; $530,200 for the acquisition of Fairland Regional Park, 0.96 acres that will be purchased in holding; and the $7,018,750 acquisition of Potomac River Community Park, 23.5 acres on the Potomac River south of Broad Creek. Duvall Field will also receive $82,500 for the design, renovation and upgrade of a 40 year-old multi-use ball field facility. Greenbelt Skate Park will receive $50,000 for the construction of a 90’ x 120’ concrete bowl-style skate park.
