volunteers hard at work on the stream shocking Volunteers receive one full-day training about the programs. Training is also provided on both presentation skills and the operation of A/V equipment. Some training is field-based and hands-on. After training is completed, audio visual equipment and other teaching aids are available for use by volunteers to conduct presentations. DNR staff also assist volunteers in improving their presentations.

DNR Expectations:
Volunteers represent DNR. They should be friendly, open, and professional in the classroom. They're going to educate students about specific Bay-related issues or topics identified by Maryland DNR. Volunteers give scripted presentations in schools that request our help. Presentations are in self contained kits with scripted lesson plans. In addition, volunteers need to make a commitment of at least one year to the program after the initial training period.
