Learn about the process of making sap into syrup! The Maple Syrup event will be held in the William Houck (Lake) Area and feature continuous working demonstrations of the traditional maple syrup-making process. Kids can enjoy free games, stories, crafts, and live music in large heated tents.
For an additional charge (cash only) a delicious hot pancake and sausage breakfast will be served from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm, or until sold out. Maryland-made maple syrup and maple candy will be available for sale. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Cunningham Falls and Gambrill State Parks.
Park gates open at 9:00 a.m. and close at sunset. A sign language interpreter will be stationed at the maple syrup demonstration site on both Sundays. Pets are not permitted inside buildings or tents.
Cost: $2 per person/$1 per youth with their group

The William Houck Area of Cunningham Falls is located three miles west of Thurmont, MD on Route 77. Thurmont is located 15 miles north of Frederick, MD. From D.C./Baltimore, follow I70 West to Route 15 North. At Thurmont, follow Route 77 West to the William Houck Area.

A demonstration of the boiling of maple sap into syrup will be held at Swallow Falls State Park, Saturday March 16, 2013 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
A local Maple Syrup producer will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate use of an evaporator in syrup making process. Pure maple products will be offered for sale during the demonstration.
Cost: $4/car instate $5/car out of state

Pancake Breakfast & Maple Syrup Demonstration

A demonstration of the Maple syrup making process along with a Pancake breakfast will be held from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. A demonstration using an evaporator to make maple syrup will be done along with the pancake breadfast. Pure maple products will be offered for sale during the demonstration and breakfast.
