Ocean Side Fishing Report

Real-time water information for selected points in the Coastal Bay

Fishing Summary

At present the surf temperature in the Ocean City area is hovering around 43-degrees. Fishermen are reporting that they are catching a few tautog inside the Ocean City Inlet along the jetties, inlet bulkheads, the Route 50 Bridge and the bulkheads at 2nd and 4th Streets. Frozen sand fleas of pieces of green crab have been the most popular baits and the ebb tide seems to be offering the best opportunities. The head boat fleet has been having a tough time trying to get offshore to fish the wreck sites for tautog due to persistent and strong winds. At least one boat reported a successful deep drop trip in 250 to 350 of water for sea bass and a few miscellaneous species. The wrecks closer to shore are holding tautog and hordes of spiny dogfish and the Ocean City fleet will be fishing them as the weather permits.

Along the beaches fishermen are reporting a few short striped bass are being caught in the surf along with spiny dogfish. A few boats have also reported catching a few striped bass within 3-miles of the beach while trolling or jigging.
