Ocean Side Fishing Report

Real-time water information for selected points in the Coastal Bay

The cold weather of the last week and windy weather put a damper on the local fishing, but the warm front that has moved in this week will certainly make fishing more comfortable. Fishermen are catching striped bass inside the Ocean City Inlet by either drifting live eels or spot from small boats over the deeper channel areas or by casting swim shad lures from shore.

The surf temperature is about 50-degrees and fishing was reported slow last week for large striped bass and bluefish. A few were caught along with spiny dogfish and ling; hopefully this week will offer better fishing.

Boats have been trolling outside of the inlet within three miles for a mix of striped bass and bluefish. Locations such as Little and Great Gull Shoals have been good places to troll a mix of bucktails and parachutes, umbrellas and Stretch crankbaits.
