Trout Fishing Report from Southern Maryland

Type: Freshwater
Region: Southern
Location: Hughesville Pond

On Sunday, I went fishing with my dad at Hughesville Pond. I had a great time and I caught 3 rainbow trout. Here are some of the pictures that my dad took of me. With 2 of the trout, I brought up some weeds that looked like mistletoe. So for one of the pictures, I joking called it the mistletoe trout. I also want to thank DNR for stocking the ponds with trout because they are really fun to catch.

My Largest Bass

Type: Freshwater
Region: Southern
Location: Local Pond

I went fishing with my dad in a pond in Avenue, Maryland and WOW I had a great surprise. I was using my new fishing pole from the fishing challenge (thank you so much DNR) when all of a sudden, wham something hit my line. It fought for a while and then when I saw it jump out of the water then finally I was able to land the fish. It was a largemouth bass. I wish I would of brought something to measure it because it looked like it was the largest bass that I ever caught.

Southern MD Fishing

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Various Southern MD

Last week I went fishing twice (Brenton Bay and St. Clements Island Museum Fishing Pier). I didn't have any luck but I had a few bites. This morning I went to Wicomico Shores Fishing pier and I caught a White Perch using one of my dad's fishing lures. It was the first time I caught a fish using this lure.

No Fish Just Ponies at Assateague

Type: Ocean
Region: Eastern
Location: Assateague Island, MD

Last week my mom and dad took me to Assateague Island State Park to fish, see the ponies, and to do the Park Quest. We didn't catch any fish but we did see a couple of ponies.

I also visited my mom and dad's friends Bob and Sandy. Bob took us fishing at Crosswicks Creek in his boat. I caught a lot of fish (catfish, white perch, and one small rockfish). I released everything that I caught. I had a great day at both the places that I went to.

I went fishing with my mom and dad on Saturday at Greenwell State Park. I caught a fish on my first cast. It was a White Perch. I gave it a kiss for good luck and put it back in the water. After fishing we hiked the Green Trail and the River Trail. It was a really fun day.

Fish on a Stick

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Fishing Pier

I went fishing with my dad on 6/25/14 at the local fishing pier in Southern Maryland. I had a fun time catching and releasing white perch. I even caught one with a tree branch (I thought at first it was a catfish because it was really tough reeling it in). I called the catch "fish on a stick".
