Flathead with Tarter Sauce

Type: Freshwater
Region: Western
Location: Upper Potomac, confluence of Antietam Creek

My husband caught this 29", 11lb flathead this morning off of a crankbait. As if that were not strange enough, we didn't think that flatheads were found above Great Falls. That made this catch a bit of a bummer, but the silver lining is that it's getting served with a side of homemade hushpuppies & tartar sauce tonight.

DNR Response: There is an occasional reporting of a flathead above great falls, so it's not common but it's not unheard of either. The Flathead Catfish is an invasive Species and DNR asks anglers keep any Blue and Flathead Catfish they catch. Thanks for the report.
