Where Can I Find Perch up North
Region: North Eastern
Location: Northeast River and Susquehanna
Hi, my name is Shane and I am a Maryland resident. I was wondering how the perch fishing has been on the Northeast River and if there are any good places to go to. Also what are the perch bitting on.
DNR Response: Hello Shane, I did some checking on yellow perch fishing in the lower Susquehanna and Northeast River area and a few fishermen have been trying but only catching a few small to medium sized yellow perch. They were using minnows and small soft plastic jigs along channels edges. Water temperatures in that area are around 41-degrees, when water temperatures drop into the mid 30ís I would expect to start seeing yellow perch holding deep in both rivers. Typically the deep water fishery for yellow perch starts in February. One of the more popular places for early season yellow perch fishing is the dock areas in the Perryville area on the Susquehanna River.
