Are the Catfish Biting Near Whites Ferry?
Location: Whites Ferry
Hi, I live in the Frederick Maryland area and was wondering will catfish around here even bite this time of year? I mainly do a lot of my fishing in Whites Ferry right beside the ferry, do you think I will have any luck this early in the season?
DNR Resonse: Yes, the Maryland shoreline at Whites Ferry area is a good place to fish for catfish this time of year. The warmwater discharge from the Dickerson Power Plant approximately 5 miles upriver will influence the water temperature along the Maryland shoreline downstream as far as Seneca. You may also want to try closer to the power plant. To access this area, follow Martinsburg Road from Route 28 and follow the signs to the warmwater fishing area. A parking lot is provided and there are many foot trails that will take you to the river. Good luck!
