My First Catfish

Type: Tidal
Region: Eastern
Location: Mt. Vernon

A friend and I just got our licenses yesterday and the fishing fever was too much to take so we ventured out on a neighbors pier in Mt. Vernon, Maryland. The wind was cold but the fish were biting. I was pulling my line in to go home and felt a tug back. No bite, nothing. One minute nothing was there, then the next minute he was. I walked him up to shore instead of lifting him up to the dock. It was my first Blue Catfish ever. He turned out to be 4.5 pounds and just over 24 inches long.

DNR Response: Biologists reviewing this submission believe itís a Channel Catfish
