Get Involved With Striped Bass Management! |
|
The Cooperative Angler Striped Bass Survey is designed to obtain striped bass harvest data that is not otherwise available to MD DNR. The focus of the survey is to gather size data on harvested and released striped bass. These data are used by managers to determine the size structure of the recreational catch and to estimate the harvest in the spring striped bass season. This information is used to establish future creel and harvest limits that allow for optimum harvests while still protecting the resource.
Anglers are encouraged to participate year-round, on-line or by mail. Follow this link for more information on this important survey.

The 2008 Spring Trout Stocking is Now Complete |
|
The 2008 stocking schedule is here! Go to www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/stocking/springtroutstock.html to check out the full schedule and the latest areas stocked. A printable version of the stocking schedule is also available. Be sure to visit the new Google Maps linked directly to the interactive table, not only do the maps provide directions to stocked locations across the state but they also provide fishing regulations and other useful information. You can also get stocking up-dates at 1-800-688-3467.
Stocking levels were increased from 2007. However the continued closure of several hatchery facilities due to whirling disease resulted in about 15% fewer fish than in 2006.
MDNR is asking anglers to continue to be vigilant about not spreading whirling, other disease and invasive organisms. Information on how you can help along with documents providing a detailed synopsis of our 2007 whirling disease testing results and a short-term plan for our Bear Creek trout hatchery can be found at www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/recreational/indexInland.html#1b.
