Kevin Gladhill | 2 lbs., 6 3/4oz | 03/01/03 | Twenty-four -year-old Boonsboro, MD resident, Kevin Gladhill, broke the long-standing yellow perch State record while ice fishing at Deep Creek Lake. His perch weighed in at 2 pounds 6 ¾ ounces breaking the old record by ¾ of an ounce. This perch, the fattest I have ever seen, had a 12.5 inch girth and measured 15 inches in length. Gladhill was jigging a Rapala tipped with maggots in 10 feet of water when the perch hit. DNR Biologist, John Mullican, was on the scene at the time of the catch and completed the verification. The perch was weighed in at Wolfe's on the Square in Williamsport, MD. The previous State record was caught at Deep Creek Lake in June 1983 and weighed 2 pounds, 6 ounces by Charles Morgan. |
