RECRUITMENT FOR: Natural Resources Police Officer (08-0535-901)

This is a Position Specific
Recruitment available only to persons who possess current
certification as a Police Officer from the Maryland Police &
Correctional Training Commission, or those whose certification has
expired within the last three years and are eligible for
recertification, or who have completed MPCTC training as a Police
Officer by the time of hire.

COMPARATIVE COMPLIANCE COURSE WILL BE CONSIDERED.
SALARY: $42,247 (Salary rules in effect for current State employees and reinstatements)
CLOSING DATE: Open and Continuous.
POSITION DUTIES: Natural Resources Police Officer is the entry level of law enforcement work learning to enforce conservation, criminal, traffic, civil and boating laws, rules and regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED certificate, 21 years
of age, and US citizen.
AND
Possession of a current certification as a Police Officer from
the MPCTC per Public Article 3-201 et seq. of the Annotated Code
of Maryland. All applicants must provide a copy of their current
certification in their original Application Packet, or if their
certification has expired within the last three years, they must
be able to be recertified, or they must have completed MPCTC
training as a Police Officer by the time of hire.
NOTE:
- Natural Resources Police Officers are subject to substance abuse
testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Annotated
Regulations .06.01.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
- Applicants must successfully complete the Entry Level Natural
Resources Police training as required by the Maryland Natural
Resources Police.
- Employees are subject to call-in on a 24-hour basis and must
provide a telephone number where they can be reached.
- Employees must be willing to accept a position to work anywhere
in the State of Maryland.
SELECTION PROCESS: Applicants who meet the minimum
qualifications will be considered for this position. Candidates
will be scored based on an oral board. Candidates will be placed
on an Eligible List based on their oral board score and ranked
in one of three categories: BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, OR
QUALIFIED. Continuing through the selection process, applicants
will be required to provide proof of U.S. citizenship; be
subject to a comprehensive background investigation to include a
polygraph and drug screening; and successfully complete physical
and psychological examinations.
