How To Apply

One Application: New applicants as well as those applicants requesting renewals or boundary line extensions can both use the same application.

Proposed New Rural Legacy Areas

  • First time applicants for proposed new Rural Legacy Areas should read the Grants Manual and contact the appropriate Program Manager.

    • Grant Renewal Requests for Established Rural Legacy Areas with, OR without boundary line changes use the same application form.

      • From the Download page you can download the entire Rural Legacy Program Grants Manual in either Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat formats. A fourteen page appendix of all the Applications Forms can be downloaded separately.

      • Timing: Check out our Calendar to see what happens when, and some important dates to plan around.

      • After the Board of Public Works approves the Application, the Rural Legacy Board, through the Department of Natural Resources Rural Legacy Program staff, will transmit a Grant Agreement to the Sponsor for approval. The Chairman of the Rural Legacy Board and the Rural Legacy Sponsor(s) will sign the Grant Agreement. Here is a sample grant agreement
