Location Hunting blind sites in the Days Cove Area, Cunninghill Cove and and Hart-Miller Island, owned by Gunpowder Falls State Park, 410-592-2897

Access Public boat ramps located at Mariner's Point Park in Joppatowne, Bowerman's Marina and the Dundee Creek Marina. Hart-Miller Island can be reached from marinas in the Edgewood area. Launching fees apply. A durable boat is necessary to reach all blind sites.

Hazards/Restrictions Permit is required, which is available in person at Gunpowder Falls State Park, Hammerman Area. Contact the park office 410-592-2897. Hunters must have the permit, a waterfowl license and appropriate stamps from DNR. Check the Hunting and Trapping in Maryland Guide for seasons and bag limits. Hunters must reserve blind sites no more than five days in advance at the Hammerman Area office. A boat is required to reach the blind sites. Beware of severe wind, weather and related boating hazards. Weather conditions can change rapidly. Check tide charts.

Natural Features Days Cove sites are located at the confluence of the Little and Big Gunpowder Falls, Maryland's only true river delta, with sinuous creeks and backwaters. A variety of wetland vegetation provide optimum waterfowl habitat. Hart-Miller Island is located in open water of the Chesapeake Bay. Nearby dredge ponds support vast numbers of waterfowl.

Description Shotgun hunting for waterfowl by permit on the Gunpowder River and Hart-Miller Island in the Chesapeake Bay. Abundant wetland vegetation provides excellent waterfowl habitat for Canada Geese, Mallards, Wood Ducks, Mergansers and Teal and some less common species such as Shovelers.
