Nature Center - located in the Assateague State Park campground between D and E loops
This winter our Nature Center is getting a facelift (quite literally being "lifted" to prevent further damage from flooding). We anticipate that the Nature Center will be fully operational by spring and summer season with a brand new deck and new and exciting exhibits. Plan to visit the Nature Center during your stay and spend time getting a close-up look at our aquariums featuring many of the fascinating critters that inhabit the waters around Assateague such as horseshoe crabs, whelks, fish, and seahorses. Don’t forget to peek in on our terrestrial friends too, the corn snake and screech owl. There’s something for everyone, a must-see for our Assateague visitors!
Nature Center Open Hours for 2014
May 10th to June 8th: Nature Center open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
June 9th to September 1st: Nature Center open daily from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and selected evening hours (check program list posted at park office for weekly schedule)
Look for these and other exciting programs happening at Assateague State Park this summer! Check weekly program schedule posted at State Park Ranger Station and campground bulletin boards for times, locations, and service charges.
