Special Trout Management Areas
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources' Fisheries Service focuses on protecting and enhancing the state's waterways and trout populations in order to provide the highest quality trout fishing experience. We work to sustain natural trout populations first. Where that is not possible, we stock high quality hatchery-raised fish to provide anglers with a diversity of fishing experiences, from catch and release and delayed harvest to put-and-take trout fishing.
