State Parks and Programs
[Volunteer Ranger at work] The State Forest and Park Service depends on volunteers who are energetic, enthusiastic, responsible and caring to help with a number of functions. Volunteer opportunities are available in the state parks listed.

Join Scales and Tales, an environmental education program that uses live animals native to the State of Maryland, and help educate thousands of school children statewide. Scales and Tales encourages an appreciation for the splendor and diversity of Maryland's wildlife, as well as the state parks of Maryland. You can become a volunteer by providing on-site assistance with educational programs, or by helping take care of animals used in the program. Call (410) 922-8825 for information.

The Volunteer Ranger Program is for people ages 18 and above who want to assist the Department’s regular ranger force in state parks and forests with operations, programs and public service. Call the state park or forest where you wish to volunteer.
