2008 Junior Hunter Field Day on
Maryland’s Eastern Shore
“Getting Involved!”

Dedicated to the Memory of
Mr. John George of J&P Hunting Lodge
The purpose of this event is to use outdoor recreational pursuits to promote an interest in wildlife habitats and instill a conservation ethic in our youth. Maryland youngsters with an interest in hunting, trapping and wildlife management have the opportunity to interact with DNR personnel and local conservationists, as well as get a chance to try their hand at shooting sporting clays and archery equipment. Participation is free and open to all students 16 years or younger.
This program has touched more than 1,000 youngsters since its inception 12 years ago. At this year’s event, a dedication was made to the memory of Mr. John George of J&P Hunting Lodge, who passed away last July. J&P’s hosted the Junior Hunter Field Day for the first 10 years. “Without his dedication throughout the years, this program may not still be in existence for our youth” stated Barbara Joyce, MD-DNR and Jr. Hunter Field Day coordinator.
For the past two years this event has been held at Sudlersville Skeet Club on Maryland’s upper eastern shore.
