Maryland Archery in the Schools Program (MD NASP)

Equipment Needed for Your NASP Program

A major part of the success of this international program is the fact that it uses state-of-the-art equipment.

The Mathews Genesis compound bow is the official bow of the NASP program and for good reason:

  • Kids can't outgrow it - because there is no specific draw length requirement.
  • It's simple to buy - no need to measure and fit for draw length.
  • It's easy to shoot - because the draw length is always right, the beginning archer won't develop bad habits caused by an ill-fitting bow.
  • Great for families - everybody in the family can shoot the same bow.
  • Perfect for schools, clubs, organizations - no need to worry about draw length.
  • Stores love it - great for getting people interested in archery, and it's the perfect bow for use with video target systems.
  • Built to last - durable and tough, these bows can take the punishment that multiple shooters can dish out.
  • Students say they just love using this bow. To learn more about this bow visit the Genesis Bow web site www.genesisbow.com.

The archery equipment used in the typical PE class is a kit consisting of:

    • 11 bows (ten right-hand and one left-hand)
    • Five-dozen arrows
    • Five targets
    • Bow rack
    • An arrow restraint net (30’ L x 8’3” H)Archery repair kit.

Go to the NASP website to get the latest information on the equipment.

Thanks to much support from the archery industry, schools can purchase the $6,000 equipment ‘kits’ for $2,800 to $3,100 depending upon which targets and bow hanging units are chosen.

Governments and public schools only are exempt from federal excise tax when purchasing archery equipment. You must complete the Exemption Certificate and include it with your order to claim this exemption. Note: This is NOT THE SAME as your sales tax exemption. Federal Excise Tax on archery equipment is charged to the manufacturer of the arrows, but a rebate is available when the arrows are ultimately sold to a public school or government agency. Your price reflects this rebate, so we are required to obtain the Exemption Form. Click here for the Exemption Certificate.

    Equipment Storage

Most schools have equipment storage closets for PE classes. To assure that the archery equipment is secure, protected and convenient to access a lockable equipment box can be built.

    Notes:

  • Get construction plans so that you can build an equipment box by going to the NASP website: www.nasparchery.com
  • Get plans to build floor quivers by visiting www.nasparchery.com. Floor quivers should be constructed to hold the arrows while protecting the gym floors
