We want to provide you with the latest information learned as we collect and analyze the satellite data for the marked pintails. We will post information weekly, or as the data become available. These maps will show current locations for all of the marked pintails captured in New Jersey, as well as those originating in the other states. Narratives describe where the birds are located and other general information. Check back often to travel with the pintails through the seasons.
Pintails on the Move
Marked in New Jersey
LOCATION MAP
(as of December 7, 2004)
We have 4 pintails still going. 1 from MD, 1 from NJ, and 2 from NC
All 4 have now made their way back to the state where they were
banded. Three had returned prior to last week. The last one to return
home was a bird from NC and she returned early last week.
LOCATION MAP
(as of November 19, 2004)
One from NJ had returned to NJ in the update last week.
One of the birds from NC is now in southern NJ.
The one from MD has now returned to MD.
The other from NC is in Ontario.
Looks like we are down to 4 pintails.
LOCATION MAP
(as of November 12, 2004)
Not much movement this week by the pintails.
One from NJ (black line) has returned to NJ,
and one from SC moved to MN.
LOCATION MAP
(as of October 6, 2004)
Three from NJ continue to transmit. One is on the east coast of Hudson Bay,
one in southern Ontario, and one in southeast Province of Quebec.
Note that the bird on Hudson Bay (green line) is the one transmitter
that does not have a mortality sensor on it, but she has shown some change
in location over the last week, so I'm assuming she is still alive.
